{CUSTOMER CARE}
{information}
All laura lanner jewelry is made by hand using primarily sterling silver and 14 karat gold-filled wire, chains and findings, which I combine with natural, semi-precious, colored gemstone beads and freshwater pearls. My promise to you is to design jewelry using the best quality materials available at prices that allow me to keep the cost of my finished pieces reasonable for my customers.
Most styles are available in multiple gemstone colors and in either sterling silver or gold-filled metal. Some pieces can be upgraded to 14- or 18-karat yellow or white gold for an additional charge. If would like to order a style in a gemstone and/or metal combination other than those on the product pages, please go to the custom designs page for instructions about the ordering process.
{care and cleaning}
Your new laura tanner jewelry is delicate, but with proper care it will last you for years. Wearing, storing and cleaning your jewelry properly will preserve its beauty and extend its longevity. To ensure this, please take care to read the jewelry care advice below. You can preserve the beauty & extend the longevity of your new handmade jewelry with proper care.
{wearing}
Prevent damage to your jewelry by avoiding exposure to extreme conditions, including, but not limited to, high heat, direct sunlight, heavy exercise, hard pulling, or swimming. Opaque stones (e.g. coral, opal, pearl, mother-of-pearl, turquoise, amber, obsidian, jet, and lapis) are very fragile and should never be worn in or cleaned with water. Apply self-tanners, sunscreen, lotion or perfume and allow them to dry before putting on jewelry. Avoid earring loss or damage by always using clear rubber stoppers with hook ear wires.
{storing}
Keep your delicate jewelry in a special bag, box or drawer (not leather—it causes tarnish) and/or in the tarnish-proof plastic bags we provide. Sterling silver jewelry tarnishes (darken) over time when exposed to air. Gold-filled jewelry is not prone to tarnish, but storing it properly will prevent its finish from dulling. Gold vermeil will tarnish and should be stored in bags. Storing one piece per bag will help prevent gemstone or pearls scratches and chain tangles.
{cleaning}
Clean your silver, gold-filled, vermeil or gold jewelry safely with a solution of 1 cup warm water and 1 Tbs. mild liquid soap and gently rub with a soft cloth or a very soft toothbrush. To polish silver pieces with delicate stones or pearls, use a damp cloth or a Sunshine® polishing cloth. Clean oxidized (blackened) silver jewelry with a damp cloth to preserve its finish. Liquid tarnish removers or jewelry cleaners are not recommended.
